Pictures in a Gallery Undersea, III – C. K. Stead
The prim lips, homing, round the wind,
Condensing news along the Strand.
Nerveless, the words assault, descent –
Stiff jaws convey them underground.
The verb that rackets through the mind
Transports the body far beyond
Expected stops.
Swirled on the wind
The lost, chaotic flakes ascend.
